Lubber, how long did you own your '87 GT? As I remember, the '87 5.0 Mustangs (the LXes in particular) were among the fastest produced. They ran with the 5.7L IROC Camaros and Trans Ams with no problems whatsoever.
Alex, got the 87 Mustang GT new and kept it for 4 years, wanted the SVO Turbo. Was the last year they made it with a T-roof option. Nice car to drive on I95 but It was a raddle bucket below 40 on New England roads with the stiff suspension. Driving in the snow with those Goodyear Gatorback tires meant white knuckles on the steering wheel. Could take some pretty shape corners doing 80 and had it up to about 110 -120 on US 1 the Sunday morning before I traded it in. Ticket said 75 in a 50 Radar detector saved my ass. Next vehicle in 91 was a Jeep Cherokee SUV.
Always liked the IROCs but my taste ran toward Ford products. -LL
